The court considered the significant difference between the parents’ reported financial circumstances when determining the support amount.
The court documents also reportedly detailed Edwards’ substantial monthly expenses. They indicated that he has the financial capacity to spend around $31,000 on food, $70,000 on entertainment and $30,000 on vacations each month. Those figures were among the financial details considered in the case.
Edwards Says He Has Never Met His Son
One of the most notable details from the case concerns Edwards’ relationship with Amir. Court documents state that Edwards acknowledged under oath that he has never met his son in person. The documents also indicate that he is not seeking parenting time with the child.
Despite the lack of an in-person relationship, the court ordered Edwards to provide financial support. The decision highlights that financial responsibility for a child remains separate from whether a parent currently exercises parenting time.
Additional Financial Obligations
The ruling goes beyond the monthly child support payment. Edwards was also ordered to obtain a life insurance policy worth approximately $2.6 million, with Descroches named as the primary beneficiary. In addition, he must pay more than $21,000 in legal fees connected to the case.
