Apple could be preparing to refresh several of its popular products, including the HomePod mini, iPad mini and Apple TV 4K. New details and product images reportedly discovered in Apple’s own code have provided an early look at what could be coming next.
The leaked information, reported by The Verge, points to a second-generation HomePod mini, an iPad mini 8 and a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. Apple has not officially confirmed the devices or their release dates.
HomePod mini 2 Could Arrive in New Colors
The next HomePod mini appears set to retain the compact spherical design of the original model, which debuted in 2020.
According to images found in Apple’s code, the updated speaker could be offered in five colors: green, pink, blue, white and black. Several of those finishes would represent a change from the brighter colors currently associated with the HomePod mini.
Beyond the new finishes, the leaked information provides limited details about the hardware inside the speaker. Apple’s final specifications could therefore differ from what has appeared in the leaked material.
iPad mini 8 Could Get a Major Chip Upgrade
The iPad mini 8 appears to have the most substantial changes revealed by the leak.
The next-generation tablet is reportedly expected to move from the A17 Pro chip used in the current model to Apple’s newer A20 Pro processor. The same chip is associated with Apple’s latest high-end iPhone lineup.
Another visible change is the location of the front-facing FaceTime camera. Apple appears to be moving the camera to the landscape edge of the tablet, bringing the smaller iPad in line with the camera orientation used on some newer iPad models.
The leaked images also appear to show a revised speaker arrangement. Earlier reporting has suggested that Apple could introduce additional changes to the iPad mini, potentially including improved water resistance and an OLED display, although those features are not confirmed by the newly leaked images.
Apple TV 4K Refresh Also Appears
Apple’s television streaming hardware could finally receive a significant refresh.
The leaked files reportedly identify a device as the Apple TV 4K (4th generation). The images suggest that Apple is keeping a design similar to the current model, which has been on the market for several years.
The leak does not reveal many details about the new Apple TV’s internal hardware. Earlier reports have pointed to a potential processor upgrade and Apple’s N1 wireless chip, but those specifications remain unconfirmed.
Possible Launch Coming Soon
