A new GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Tenisha Warner, the widow of late actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and their 9-year-old daughter as she navigates grief, financial pressure and a legal dispute involving his estate. The fundraiser was organized by Destiny Rael, a longtime friend of Tenisha, who said she created the campaign after witnessing the challenges Warner has faced since her husband’s death.
Fundraiser Seeks Financial Support
The campaign, titled “In Honor of Malcolm-Jamal Warner: Support for His Family,” was created August 11 with a $40,000 goal. Donations quickly pushed the fundraiser past $35,000, with one anonymous contribution accounting for more than $32,000, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Rael said the money is intended to help ease the financial strain on Tenisha and provide greater stability for her daughter. She also described the difficulties Tenisha has faced while raising her child and dealing with the aftermath of Warner’s death.
Estate Dispute Adds to Pressure
Malcolm-Jamal Warner died at age 54 on July 20, 2025, after an accidental drowning during a family vacation in Costa Rica. He was best known for playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show and later appeared in shows including Malcolm & Eddie, Reed Between the Lines and The Resident.
Tenisha has since become involved in a legal dispute over her late husband’s estate. She filed lawsuits against his mother, Pamela Warner, who is the trustee of the Warner Family Trust. Tenisha alleges that an older estate arrangement did not reflect Malcolm’s intentions to provide for his wife and daughter. She is seeking $1.2 million connected to a premarital agreement.
Friend Says Family Needs Support
Rael said Malcolm had been working with attorneys to update his estate plan before his death but did not complete the changes. She also said Tenisha returned home after his death to discover damage caused by unexpected flooding, creating another challenge during an already difficult period.
The fundraiser is not intended to ask supporters to take sides in the family’s legal dispute. Instead, Rael said the campaign is focused on helping Tenisha and her daughter manage their financial needs while honoring Warner legacy.
The campaign has attracted support from fans of the actor, who continue to remember his decades-long career and his most recognizable role as Theo Huxtable.
