Popular Fruit Bars Recalled Over Glass Concern

Consumers are being urged to check their freezers after Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream announced a voluntary recall of select Outshine Fruit Bars because they may contain glass.

The recall, announced August 16, affects a limited number of Outshine 6-count, 2.5-ounce fruit bars sold by retailers nationwide. The affected flavors are Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine and Black Cherry.

According to the company, the products are being recalled because of the potential presence of foreign material, specifically glass. No illnesses or injuries had been reported as of the recall announcement.

Which Outshine Products Are Affected?

The recall applies only to specific batches of the five affected flavors. Consumers should check the bottom of their packages for the batch code and UPC number.

The recalled lots have best-before dates ranging from June through November 2027, depending on the flavor and batch. Consumers should compare both the UPC and batch information with the recall details rather than assuming every package of an affected flavor is included.

Anyone who has purchased one of the recalled products should not eat it. Dreyer’s advises consumers to dispose of the affected bars or return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

Importantly, Dreyer’s said that no other Outshine products or varieties are affected. The recall is limited to the specified five flavors in 6-count, 2.5-ounce packages.
