Portland State Falls to No. 21 Oregon in College Football Action

Portland State Struggles to Generate Offense

The Vikings had difficulty finding consistent offensive production against Oregon’s defense.

Portland State finished with only 103 total yards and averaged 2.8 yards per play. The Vikings completed just eight of 20 passes for 101 yards and threw three interceptions.

Gabe Downing was Portland State’s primary passer, while Terence Loville led the team in receiving with 50 yards on two catches.

Oregon’s defense also forced four total turnovers and limited Portland State to 37 offensive plays.

Young Oregon Players Make an Impact

With the game firmly under control, Oregon was able to give additional players valuable playing time.

Raiola took over at quarterback and produced three touchdown passes, including scores to Messiah Hampton and other Oregon receivers. Hampton finished with six receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

Evan Stewart also contributed three receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown, including a 39-yard scoring reception during the first quarter.

The performance gave several Oregon players opportunities to contribute while the Ducks maintained their offensive momentum.

Oregon Looks Ahead

The victory comes after Oregon entered the game with a 1-1 record following a 39-31 loss at Oklahoma State on September 12. Before that defeat, the Ducks had opened the season with a 34-27 victory over Boise State.

Portland State entered the matchup at 0-3 after losses to UC Davis, San Diego State and North Dakota.

For Oregon, the shutout provided a strong statistical performance before the Ducks move into more challenging Big Ten competition.
