Sara Bejlek Stuns Sabalenka in Major Cincinnati Shock

Sara Bejlek produced the biggest upset of her career at the Cincinnati Open on Wednesday, knocking world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka out of the tournament with a stunning straight-sets victory.

The 20-year-old Czech defeated the top seed 7-6(9-7), 6-4 in the fourth round, overcoming one of the most powerful players in women’s tennis to reach the Cincinnati quarterfinals.

For Bejlek, the victory marked her first win over a top-10 player and the biggest result of her career. It also secured her first quarterfinal appearance at a WTA 1000 tournament.

“I lost my words,” Bejlek said during her on-court interview after being told she had just defeated the world No. 1.

For Sabalenka, the defeat is a major setback as she prepares for the U.S. Open, where she is the defending champion.
