Atlanta’s Piedmont Park is buzzing with music fans as the 2026 Shaky Knees Music Festival brings a sold-out weekend of live performances to the city.
The three-day festival began Friday, September 18, and runs through Sunday, September 20. Organizers have confirmed that this year’s event is sold out, bringing thousands of concertgoers to the Midtown Atlanta area.
Shaky Knees Takes Over Piedmont Park
The festival has once again transformed part of Piedmont Park into a multi-stage music venue. Concertgoers entered the park through designated entrances while portions of surrounding Midtown streets were closed or affected by festival traffic.
FOX 5 Atlanta reported that the sold-out event was bringing significant activity to Piedmont Park and surrounding streets.
Festival organizers have spread performances across four stages, giving attendees access to a broad lineup of rock, alternative, indie and other musical styles throughout the weekend.
Major Headliners Lead the Weekend
The 2026 lineup features several major names across the three-day festival.
The Strokes are scheduled to headline Friday, Twenty One Pilots headline Saturday, and Gorillaz are set to close the festival on Sunday. Other acts on the lineup include The Prodigy, Pavement, Turnstile, Fontaines D.C., LCD Soundsystem, Wu-Tang Clan, Modest Mouse and Santigold.
The wide-ranging lineup has helped make the festival a major attraction for music fans traveling to Atlanta as well as local concertgoers.
Sold-Out Event Brings Large Crowds
Shaky Knees officially lists its 2026 festival as sold out, including its general-admission offerings. The festival’s ticket information also directs fans toward verified resale options and a waitlist.
Atlanta News First reported that the opening day drew a sold-out crowd, with concertgoers making their way into Piedmont Park as the festival got underway Friday.
The large attendance also means increased activity around Midtown, with festival traffic and road closures affecting nearby streets.
Fans Prepare for a Busy Weekend
With temperatures and humidity elevated as the festival opened, organizers reminded attendees to prepare for the conditions.
Free water refill stations are available inside the festival, and attendees can bring empty water bottles into the event. Public transportation has also been encouraged because there is no dedicated festival parking.
The nearby Midtown MARTA station provides one option for festivalgoers traveling to Piedmont Park, while rideshare pickup locations are positioned around the festival perimeter.
One Performer Withdraws From the Lineup
The festival weekend also experienced a lineup change before opening day.
Jimmy Eat World announced that it would not perform after lead singer Jim Adkins required immediate eye surgery for a detached retina. The cancellation affected the band’s scheduled festival appearance as well as a late-night performance.
Despite the change, the festival continues with dozens of other performances scheduled across the weekend.

Shaky Knees has become a recurring fixture on Atlanta’s festival calendar, and the 2026 edition marks another weekend where Piedmont Park serves as the center of the event.
